We had a weird week in our home after Baby Girl passed on. We were all pretty depressed for a few days. We missed her so much. Then of course, we dealt with the day to day stuff of living with teenagers. K spent time with some new girlfriends and A and I were chuffed to see her giggling and acting her age. One of the older girlfriends had pretty nasty to K lately so it was nice to see her have a good time with the new girls.
My brain is in some creative stall. Maybe burnout from Christmas sewing. I have some ideas but not sure where I want to go with them. I'm going to miss Baby Girl trying to take a nap on any piece of fabric laid on the table even if it had been just placed there. She had a radar for that sort of thing.
I'm wanting to make a couple of wall quilts. One is inspired by a piece I read on the permafrost. Photos in the article are beautiful. Another is an old illustration of a "root child" holding a violet. I tried to work the illustration on linen and hated it. Back to square one with that one.
I did make A an anniversary card/book yesterday. It was a mixed media experiment. He likes it. I could really go further with it and make it so much nicer but he has it now so I'll wait and try something for Valentine's Day. I haven't painted much since I became sick so I'm out of practice.
I'll be doing some cataloging at work this week. We have hundreds of sermon tapes that need cataloged. I've been putting it off since last summer and I feel a need to get at it now. I'm hoping one of my daughters will feel sorry for me and jump in and help. I'll pray for that one. If you see the pictured teenager tell her to take pity of her mother and help out at the mission!
