Productive and Cold

The weather this week has been crazy. Snow then ice and snow and ice. I'm tired of winter. I listened to the trees crackling yesterday with the ice melting on their branches and the drips sounding like rain. It was loud! Okay, that was cool.
The kids are going back to school today with a two hour delay. They've had a nice 4 days off and enjoyed sleeping through most of it. I seem to remember sleeping so much when I was Kate's age but not Hannah's.
The good....I finished one of the wall quilts that had been left unfinished for about 6 years. Yes, I wrote 6. I had pieced it and not been happy with it because it was my first attempt to machine quilt. I was so excited when I got that walking foot from Viking and then was completely clueless on how to use it even after reading and watching how to. Anyway, all it needed was a hem. Yeah....pretty shameful that. It's finished and in the laundry as I write.
I am working on the next unfinished project. I have some needle worked baby blocks that I'm making into a baby quilt. No babies in the family so it will be put away I suppose. I am going to use flannel to piece it so I'll be headed to Joann's maybe today. It really feels good getting these projects out of the way.
Scratch the 2 hour delay. Our new automated calling system for the school board says no school again today! I am loving that new announcement system! I was worried if I would be able to get out of my driveway this morning to get the girls to the bus stop ....one mile downhill!
The weather forecast is for more of this kind of weather next week too. We will have all 6 kids in the house then! The triplets enjoy snow days more than the teenagers since they aren't worried yet about having a good time playing in the snow and being seen. Most of the time, I want all 6 here 24-7 BUT I realize they need to see their mother and I realize we need the break. Every other week works for most of us. Katherine doesn't get along with her mother so she would rather be here most of the time and Danny (our only boy) would rather be with his dad but they have to be older before they can make the choice where they want to be. They envy my girls as my ex and I let them go back and forth and they want. It's worked really well because we try really hard to keep it that way.
I'm going to get to work and add the quilts later.....

Your Pointless Wonder Quilt is beautiful. I like the black sashing strips with all the pretty bright star blocks. Job well done!

Yes. 11 year old triplets. They are from Al's first marriage. Two girls and one boy. We have five girls in our house. Hannah-16, Kate-13, Katherine-13 (we have 2 13year old Katherines), Brenden-11, Becca-11 and Ally-11. We have Al's children everyother week and mine all but 2 weekends a month or whenever they need to see their Dad really. Brenden has a hard life with all these girls. lol
